Navajo Indian Watch Ladies White Buffalo Turquoise Tips Sterling Silver

Navajo Indian Watch Ladies White Buffalo Turquoise Tips Sterling Silver

Steve Francisco, Navajo, has crafted some beautiful watch tips of White Buffalo Turquoise set in Sterling Silver to accent this lovely ladies watch. The face is white with black marks for the hours.  The center of the clock face has a darling bear.  What a beauty! The watch is a SelecTime Quartz. This would really be a stunning addition to your jewelry collection--and useful too! Steve has added one small section of inlay manmade opal on each watch tip. Really lovely. Steve has stamped the backs of the tips "SF - Sterling". <p>

THE BEAR STORY:  Many Native American Tribes honored the spirit of the bear as a magical being, the Shaman of the animal world.  The Bear is considered a totem for healing, protection and good fortune.

White Buffalo Turquoise is quite unique and rare. It was discovered in the Dry Creek Mine north of Auston Nevada in 1993. Because of its hardness, it was sent to be assayed and it was in fact White Turquoise. The chemical name for Turquoise is Aluma Phosphate which in its pure chemical state is white. Turquoise takes on color via an intrusion of either copper (blue color) or iron (green color). To date, no other vein of gem quality white turquoise has been discovered anywhere else in the world. Because White Turquoise is as rare as a white buffalo, the Indians call it "White Buffalo" Turquoise. The White Buffalo Turquoise is itself considered sacred and powerful. The jewelry-making is an honoring or tribute to the "White Buffalo" Turquoise.
