Calvin Peterson, Navajo artist and silversmith, has created a unique and meaningful pair of post mounted sterling silver overlay earrings highlighted by the bear claw and other designs. The earring ovals are 3/4" long by 1/2" wide. Calvin has stamped "Sterling" and added a sun/cloud design as well as etched CP on the backs of the earrings. These are truly unique earrings that will be a welcome addition to your jewelry collection!

           Overlay is created by “sweating”, or soldering, two pieces of silver together.  The top piece contains a design element which is meticulously cut out of silver.  The bottom piece is oxidized and often textured to produce a contrasting background.  They then carefully file, buff and polish to produce the fine finish on their beautiful item.<p>

THE BEAR STORY:  Many Native American Tribes honored the spirit of the bear as a magical being, the Shaman of the animal world.  The Bear is considered a totem for healing, protection and good fortune.
